Weir, Wanda M.
Wanda M. Weir, 90, of Iowa City, died Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009, at her residence following a short illness. Funeral Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Lensing's Oak Hill, 210 Holiday Road, Coralville. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. before the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Faith Baptist Church, 1251 Village Road, Iowa City 52240.
Wanda was born March 1, 1919, in LaPorte, Ind., the daughter of Charles and Susan (Wentz) McAllister. Raised in LaPorte, Wanda graduated from University High School and later attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago.
Wanda was united in marriage to Pastor L. Max Weir on Nov. 10, 1944, in Coralville. For many years, Wanda and Max dedicated their lives to ministry. It was a passion that they both shared and cherished greatly. Wanda also played the piano and organ at church services and various nursing home activities.
Survivors include her two sons, Roger Weir of Coralville and Philip Weir and his wife, Cheryl of Warrenton, Mo.; grandsons, Brian, Scott and Zachary; and several nieces and nephews.
Wanda was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two sisters, Juanita Siders and Mildred McAllister; and three brothers, Leonard, Elwood and Richard.
