Weger, Norma Jean
Norma Jean Weger, 86, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at Heritage Nursing & Rehab Center, Cedar Rapids. A funeral service celebrating Norma's life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 29, at First Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids with the Rev. Steven Knudson officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include her daughters, Charlotte Walser and Pamela (Loren) Koss, both of Cedar Rapids; daughter-in-law, Sue Weger of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Lisa (Paul) Betterton of Atkins, Lauri (Gene) Scalf of Eden Prairie, Minn., and Timothy (Denise) Koss of Winder, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Keaton, Kelsey, Kaylee, Katie, Kaden and Kolton Betterton, Emily Scalf, David and Johnathan Koss; sisters, Maxine Renfer of Central City and Betty Petersen of Cedar Rapids; and brother, James Pollock of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Warren; son, Ronald; four brothers; and three sisters.
Norma Jean Pollock was born Aug. 30, 1925, in rural Linn County, Iowa, the daughter of Worley and Mary (Price) Pollock. On Nov. 9, 1946, she married Warren H. Weger at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and worked as a nursing technician at St. Luke's Hospital for 23 years until retiring in 1989. She enjoyed baking cookies and being with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and watching their activities. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name.
