Weber, Francis P. 'Bud'
Francis P. ”Bud” Weber, 87, of Independence, formerly of Walker, died Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a short illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Walker, by Father David Ambrosy. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church, with a rosary at 4:30 p.m. and a Scripture service at 7:30 p.m. Burial: Sacred Heart Cemetery, Walker, Iowa, with military rites. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Frances; a son, Jerome Weber of Sweet, Idaho; a daughter, Susan (Chuck) Briggman of Quasqueton; a daughter, Carol (Pete) Peters of Urbana; a daughter, Barbara (Pete) Divita of Elko, Nev.; daughter-in-law, Jealee Weber of Troy Mills; daughter, Patricia (Bob) Havlik of Walker; daughter, Mary (Bill) Maddox of Yorktown, Va.; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three brothers; and four sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Paul Francis Weber; daughter-in-law, Marsha Weber; a brother; and seven sisters.
Bud was born Dec. 13, 1921, the son of Frank Peter and Mary Armosa (Gregoire) Weber, in Alexander, N.D. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Bud married Frances Schmitz on Aug. 7, 1943, at St. Peters Catholic Church in New Brunswick, N.J. He worked as a custodian for 30 years at Walker schools. Bud was a member of the American Legion in Walker, the Lions Club, Knights of Columbus and the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Walker. He enjoyed bowling, dancing, fishing, hunting and watching sports. Bud loved to garden and feed the birds. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Bud's memory.
