Weber, David John
David John Weber, 55, died unexpectedly Tuesday, April 4, 2012, in his Stanwood home. The funeral services for David will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, at the Mechanicsville United Methodist Church, by the Rev. Barb Krueger. The family will welcome friends from 4 until 7 p.m. Monday, April 9, at Morgan Funeral Choices, Mount Vernon. Burial: Rose Hill Cemetery, Mechancisville.
Surviving David are his wife, Kris; mother, Sophie Weber of Mechanicsville; children, Trevor (Amber) of Central City, Toby (Jessica) Knapp of Anamosa, Brent (Cassie) of Mechanicsville, Preston and Matthew (girlfriend Allison), both of Stanwood; four grandchildren, Leeah, Bailee, Breanna and Phoenix; one brother, Rick (Tonya); two sisters, Peggy (Keith) Beck and Shelly (Jay) Albaugh; oodles of nieces, nephews and friends; and three canine friends, Sugar, Kylee and Snuggles.
Preceding David in death were his father, Merlin “Merle”; and two sisters, Kathy Weber and Kristie Crandall.
David was born Sept. 6, 1956, in Cedar Rapids, the first child of Merle and Sophie (Groen) Weber. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1974. David married Kris Kelley on Feb. 14, 1991. He worked for Nash Finch in Cedar Rapids, Amana Refrigeration in Amana, and for the Public Works of the city of Mechanicsville.
David loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting asparagus and mushrooming with his sons. He enjoyed camping and gardening as well. David always joked around and teased everyone, and loved to spend time talking on the phone.
