Weatherwax, Ray
Ray Weatherwax, 84, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital after a short illness. Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Monday. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his sister, Helen Burrows of Hemet, Calif.; nephews, Rick Miller of Cedar Rapids, Gary (Renie) Miller of Toddville and John (Linda) Miller of Marion; nieces, Connie Miller of Cedar Rapids, Sharon Pippert of Dysart, Linda of California and Elaina of Hawaii; and special friend, Robert Tifr of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and a brother, Richard Miller.
Ray was born Feb. 28, 1926, in Toddville, the son of Archie and Bessie (Bowers) Weatherwax. He married Iva A. Sword on June 28, 1969, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She died in 1989. Ray was a member of the NRA and in his younger years, enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and roller skating. Most recently he liked watching sports on TV, especially supporting the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Memorial donations may be given to the Cedar Valley Humane Society in Ray's name.
