Wazac, Robert Rudolf
Robert Rudolf Wazac, 89, a resident of the Hiawatha Care Center, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, March 18, 2013, at the care center. Funeral Service: 10 a.m. Saturday, March 23, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, by the Rev. Phil Jorgensen. The family will greet friends one hour before the service Saturday at the funeral home. Burial: Lost Nation Cemetery Lost Nation, Iowa.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel; children, David (Ruth) Wazac, Mark (Debbie) Wazac, Dennis (Jo) Wazac and Robin (Nathan) Borrett; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Carl Wazac Jr. and Tony Wazac.
Robert was born Sept. 13, 1923, in Lost Nation, Iowa, the son of Carl Sr. and Nelli (Potter) Wazac. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during World War II. Robert married Hazel E. Ruggeberg on Dec. 26, 1943, in Seattle, Wash. He was the vice president of Allied Glass Products for 40 years. Robert enjoyed woodworking, golfing and fishing. He was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan and also enjoyed the Iowa Hawkeyes.
