Hazel Wazac, 91, a resident of the Hiawatha Care Center, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, at the care center. Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral. Burial: 1:30 p.m. at Lost Nation Cemetery.
Survivors include her children, David (Ruth) Wazac, Mark (Debbie) Wazac, Dennis (Jo) Wazac and Robin (Nathan) Borrett; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her parents; and two sisters, Bernice Gruenwald and Esther Ruggeburg.
Hazel was born May 30, 1922, in Lost Nation, the daughter of Edward and Amanda (Busch) Ruggeberg. She graduated from Lost Nation High School. Hazel married Robert Rudolf Wazac on Dec. 26, 1943, in Spokane, Wash.
Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Mercy.
Hazel enjoyed volunteering at various organizations in the Cedar Rapids area.
