Wayne E. Youngblut,
81, of rural Lisbon, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015, at the Mechanicsville Care and Rehabilitation Center. Services will be held at 11 a.m Thursday, Jan. 15, at Morgan Funeral Choices by Celebrant Mary Morgan and the Rev. Kenneth Gibson of Woodstock, Ill. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, at the funeral home. A private family burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Mechanicsville.
Surviving Wayne are his wife of more than 62 years, Anna M. of Lisbon; four children, Rhonda (Dale) Bohrer of Toddville, Dennis (Shelle) of Mount Vernon, Linda (Steve) Gangloff of Syracuse, Ind., and David (Lisa) of Indianola; sister, Anne (Ken) Lampe of Cedar Rapids; brother, Francis of Des Moines; 10 grandchilderen; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Wayne in death were his parents, Leo "Brownie" and Lucile; an infant daughter, Florence; and two infant grandsons, Mark and Derek.
Wayne was born March 3, 1933, in Sioux City. He graduated from Martelle High School. Wayne married Anna Nelson on May 30, 1952, at Lisbon. He was inducted into the U.S. Army and served as an instructor at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri during the Korean conflict. He farmed all his life in this area. Wayne served on the board of directors of the Martelle Coop for many years. Wayne was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mount Vernon.
Wayne was an outdoorsman, traveling with family and friends 43 years to Gull Rock Lake in Ontario, Canada. He enjoyed hunting and fishing locally. Wayne loved sports, especially following his children and grandchildren in their sporting events. He worked the chain at Lisbon football games for many years.
Wayne possessed a gentle strength, which was much respected by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Wayne's honor was established.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Mechanicsville Care and Rehabilitation Center and Care Initiative Hospice for the wonderful compassionate care they provided Wayne and family.
