Wayne Vernon, 79, died peacefully Sunday, April 26, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 30, at the United Methodist Church, Anamosa, with interment in the Forest Chapel Cemetery. The Rev. Laurie Riley will officiate at the services. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa.

Surviving is his wife, Carolyn; four children, Michael Vernon, Terry Vernon and Tammy (Dick) Dearborn, all of Anamosa, and Mindy (Don) Boysen of Monticello; five grandchildren, Jenny (Zach) King, Kathy (Ryan) Davies, Renee (Tyler) Robertson, Stephanie (Christian Perfetti) Vernon and Dallas (Katie Goettsch) Lumpa; three stepgrandchildren, Angie Boysen, Tyler (Kaylee) Boysen and Blake (Kerry) Boysen; five great-grandchildren and another due any day, Sydney, Jacob, Shae, Harper and Madison; three stepgrandchildren, Capri, Beckham and Grayson; his sister, Ruth Switzer of Morley; his brother, Keith (MaryLou) Vernon of Anamosa; a sister-in-law, Sue (Al) Sanford of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces, nephews and special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Florence; his stepmother, Velma; and a brother, Charles.
