Wayne was born Feb. 18, 1942, in Urbana to Clark and Maxine (Lindsay) Long. He graduated from Washington High School in Vinton. Wayne was united in marriage to Diane Clark on Nov. 22, 1962, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Urbana. Wayne was a parishioner at St. Mary's in Urbana, where he ushered, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus and past parish board member. Farming his family century-plus farm was his life and he loved it. Throughout the years he was involved in 4-H and FFA and served on the Benton County Fair Board. He was a friendly guy with a dry sense of humor and he never met a person he could not visit with. Wayne thought the world of his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of almost 56 years, Diane; their children, Jeff Long and Nicole (Rod) Wheeler; their grandchildren, Jason (Mindi) Long, Jenae Long and Mason and Elizabeth Wheeler; his sisters, Mildred Kisling and Helen (Dale) Robertson; his brother, Jim (Martha) Long; sister-in-law, Lonna (Rick) Gordon; brothers-in-law, Duane and Randy Clark; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his mother- and father-in-law, Floyd and Darlene Clark; brothers-in-law, John Riffey and Fred Kisling; and his sister-in-law, Liz Clark.
