Wayne D. Holst, 78, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on October 14, 2025, in his home. Celebration of Life Services will be held 6 p.m. Sunday, October 19, 2025, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW in Cedar Rapids. Friends may visit with the family after 4 p.m. until the time of service Sunday at Brosh Chapel. Feel free to wear casual clothing.
Wayne was born on March 10, 1947, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Earl and Betty (Addison) Holst. Wayne proudly served his country in the Marines during Vietnam. Wayne married Christine Lagerquist on April 20, 1968, in Rowland Heights, California. Over the years Wayne worked at, Harnischfeger, Goss and John Deere. Wayne enjoyed draft horses, camping, classic cars and attending car shows. But, more than anything, Wayne enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 57 years, Christine Holst; sons Christopher Holst and Casey (Jeri) Holst; grandchildren Tiphanie (Nawfal) Chokrallah, McKenzie (Cody) Anderson, Koda Holst, Tyler and Caleb Holst; eight great grandchildren: siblings Judy (Ronald) Brown and Gary (Sue) Holst; sister-in-law Paulie Dressler; brother-in-law Larry Lagerquist; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son Chad Holst; siblings Kim, Colleen, Bill.
