Wayne Allen Brown, 63, of Bertram, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at St. Luke's Hospital. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday,
May 22, at Brosh Chapel. Celebration of Life services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 23, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW, with the Rev. Jennifer Zoller presiding. Burial will be in Campbell Cemetery, followed by a time for food and fellowship at Bertram Township Hall, located at 162 Angle St., Bertram.
Wayne was born Nov. 30, 1953, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Edwin and Angeline (Lnenicka) Brown. He graduated from Cedar Rapids Washington High School, Class of 1972. Wayne earned a degree from Iowa State University in 1976. He was employed at the Iowa Department of Revenue from 1977 until retiring in 2009. Wayne was united in marriage to Connie Williams on April 7, 1990, at Squaw Creek Park in Cedar Rapids. He enjoyed watching baseball, playing games, including solitaire, hearts and sudoku, and spending time with his family, especially being with the "love of his life," Connie. He was a active lifetime member of Bertram United Methodist Church, where he served in many roles.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Connie; his siblings, Carol (Richard) Olson of Raymond and Kevin Brown of Cedar Rapids; three nieces, Samantha (Keith) Dahlby, Kathleen Brown and Becky (Richard) Eikelboom; two nephews, Kirk (Alana) Olson and Rick Ludwig; his
great-nieces and great-nephews, Tabitha, Felicity, Danielle (Dustin), Gunnar, Danika, MacKenzie, Sarah and Tyler; great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews, Carter, Jonas, Eliana, Alice and Winter; a sister-in-law, Beverly (Darl) James of Knoxville; and many special friends.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials may be directed to Bertram United Methodist Church in his name.
