High Amana
Wayne Blount, 78, of High Amana, died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2015, at his home. Graveside services: 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 24, at Oak Hill Cemetery, Williamsburg. A reception will follow at noon at the American Legion Hall in Marengo.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be contributed to Essence of Life Hospice, Amana, or the Amana Volunteer Fire Department.
Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is assisting the family with arrangements.
Wayne is survived by his children, Tamara Schwendinger (David) of Williamsburg, Ronald Blount (Paula) of East Amana and Daniel Blount of Amana; five grandchildren, Rosie Blount, Elizabeth (Mark) Ohl, Ashley (Tim) Grimm, Abby (Scott) Brikett and Ryan Klein; five great-grandchildren, Nathan Price, Aidan Ohl, Ardan Ohl, Victoria Grimm and Anabella Grimm; and his siblings, Eugene Blount of Victor, Deloris Miller of Geneseo, Ill., and Elaine (Larry) Means of Greenfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rose Marie Parson Blount; a brother, Edwin Blount; and sisters, Geneva Simones, Maxine Gegenheimer, Dorothy Hite, Ruth Ferrel and Marguerite Kahler.
Wayne Thomas Blount was born Feb. 4, 1937, in Williamsburg, Iowa, the son of Alfred and Grace Schneider Blount. He graduated from Marengo High School in 1956 and married Rose Marie Parson on Aug. 2, 1958, in Marengo. Wayne was employed as a team leader and welder with Marengo Steel Products and Marengo Ready Mix for eight years, Kraus Equipment in Walford for 24 years, and High Way Equipment in Cedar Rapids for 17 years.
In his earlier years, Wayne enjoyed boating, fishing and hunting. He especially enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family and friends.
He served with the Amana Fire Department for 17 years and was a Cub Scout leader for six years.
