Wayne Allan Eddins, 86, of Marion, Iowa, formerly of Center Point, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2021, at Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, Iowa. In accordance with his wish's cremation has taken place. A celebration of Wayne's life will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. A private committal service will take place at a later date.
Wayne was born on Aug. 25, 1935, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Wilford Allan and Ruth Patricia (Hansen) Eddins. For four years he served honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict. On March 15, 1958, Wayne was united in marriage to Elaine Marie Roseberry at the First Christian Church in Center Point, Iowa. Wayne was a farmer for 38 years in the Center Point area. He was a 56-year member of the Marion American Legion Post 298 and the last surviving member of his former bowling league. Wayne was an avid bowler, enjoyed gambling and loved spending time with family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Wayne is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years, Elaine Eddins of Marion; daughter, Brenda (Ron) Tuttle of Center Point; three grandchildren, Michael Eddins (Heather Hagmeier) of Cedar Rapids, Maria (Zach) Liercke of Center Point and Kirsten Smith of Hiawatha; three great-grandchildren, Lila Eddins, Ollie Liercke and Sullie Liercke; brother, Richard (Louise) Eddins of Marion; brother-in-law, Larry (Barbara) Roseberry of Center Point; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Joyce Ann Eddins; brother, Keith Eddins; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mark and Dorothy Roseberry.
Memorials in Wayne's memory may be directed to The Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, 315 18th Ave., Hiawatha, Iowa.
