Waunita "Nita" Jean Edgington, 79, passed away on April 28, 2023, at Mechanicsville Special Care Center. There will be a Celebration of Life from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 13, at New Beginnings Church at 910 Boyson Ct., Hiawatha.
Survivors include her children, Renee (Bill) Gardner, Darla (Gene) Edgington, Darin (Loisa) Edgington and Richard Edgington; grandchildren, Amanda Lynch, Adam Gardner and Joshua Michalec; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother and sister.
Waunita (Nita) was born Sept. 18, 1943, to Donald and Venita Donegan of Cedar Rapids. She graduated Jefferson High School, married Wayne Earl Edgington, and had four children before a divorce. Nita never remarried. She had many different jobs, the main being Von Maur, Pride House Cleaning and Rockwell Collins. She enjoyed gardening, sketching, dancing, reading and genealogy, but most of all, family and friends.
