Warren Raymond Wood, 94, of Manchester, Iowa, was born March 13, 1923, to Filetta Charlotte Sturm and Phillip S. Wood. Warren graduated from Butterfield School at the eighth grade and from Strawberry Point High School in 1940. He farmed with his father and served during World War II from July 1944 until July 1946. Warren married Hertha Bäuerlein on Oct 24, 1948. Four children came from this union.
Warren entered into rest on Feb. 20, 2018. He is survived by his wife, Hertha; daughter, Jeanette; sons, Phillip and Warren (Pete); and grandchildren, Robbie, Christopher, Julie and Justin. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bruce and Keith; daughter, Katharina; and grandchildren, Amy, Paul and Mark.
Services will be held on Saturday, March 3, at 10:30 a.m. at Mission in Christ Lutheran Church, 312 E. Mission St., Strawberry Point, Iowa, with visitation an hour prior to services and inurnment immediately thereafter. Memorials may be made to Mission in Christ Church, the Strawberry Point Public Library, the Manchester Public Library or the Regional Medical Center.
