Warren G. Barclay, 88, of Central City, passed away Feb. 16, 2016, in Tucson, Ariz.
He was born in Davenport, Iowa, to George and Amelia (Madsen) Barclay. Warren enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II, and was honorably discharged in August 1955. Warren was married to the love of his life, Arlene (Ritze) Barclay, for 65 years. They lived most of their married life in Central City.
Warren was employed by Iowa Manufacturing Co. (Raytheon) in Cedar Rapids for 38 years. After retirement, they moved to Tucson, Ariz., to be near their three granddaughters.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Central City, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Masonic Lodge and Central City Fire Department. Warren enjoyed golf, fishing, hunting, shuffleboard, tennis, softball; you name it, he tried it. He knew how to play. He also did extensive travel with his lovely wife and enjoyed his family and friends.
Warren was preceded in death by his firstborn grandchild, Sheila Barclay.
He is survived by his wife, Arlene; his son, Eugene Barclay and wife Elaine of Panama City, Fla.; his daughter, Deanna Downard and husband Gary of Tucson; his three granddaughters, Liberty Daniels, Holly Groh and Brittany Downard; and his five great-grandchildren.
Memorial services are 11 a.m. Saturday, March 26, at New Life Wesleyan Church, 8900 E. Golf Links Rd., Tucson. Burial is pending in Iowa.
