Wanda McEndree, 88, passed away Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be Tuesday, Feb. 18, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, with burial to follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Memorial Lawn.
Wanda was born Aug. 20, 1925, in Cedar Rapids, to Fred and Nellie (Anderson) Kness. On Oct. 2, 1946, Wanda married Robert McEndree in Audubon, Iowa. Wanda worked for many years at Living Center West as a cook until her retirement in 1981. Wanda will always be known for being the mayor of Rompot.
Wanda is survived by her two daughters, Bonnie (Donald) VonWeihe of Williamsburg and Dianne (Stephen) Yanda of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Robert (Amy) Yanda, Roxanne (Jeff) Grady and Ranell Boyles, all of Cedar Rapids, Dawn Stoner of Williamsburg and Stacy (Travis) Murphy of North English; 10 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and five sisters, Mildred Shirbroun, Jean Vaerk, Yvonne Smith, Delores Korsmo and Jolene Rohret.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; son, Michael; four brothers, Floyd, Howard, Donald and Freddy Kness; and a sister, Colene Noke.
