Wanda A. Huedepohl, 101, of Williamsburg, died Friday, April 18, 2014, at Highland Ridge Care Center, Williamsburg. Funeral Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg, with the Rev. Carl Cloeter officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Williamsburg. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 21, at St. Paul Lutheran Fellowship Hall, Williamsburg. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be contributed to St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery or Sunday School or St. John's Luth-eran Cemetery, Homestead.
Wanda is survived by her sons, Willard of Williamsburg and his special friend, Karen Hopp, of Iowa City, and Merlyn and wife Diane of Williamsburg; two grandsons, Michael Huedepohl and wife Jennifer of Williamsburg and Timothy Huedepohl and his special friend, Sherry Grier, of Williamsburg; and two great-grand-children, Anton and Thomas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Anton, on May 9, 1988; and siblings, Ervin, Arnold, Milton, Millen and Orville Schmidt, Alma Stohlmann and Norma Webert.
Wanda Anna Schmidt was born April 24, 1912, in York Township, Iowa County, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Carolina Sandersfeld Schmidt. She received her education at Immanuel Lutheran Parochial School, rural Williamsburg. Wanda married Anton Huedepohl on Jan. 29, 1939, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Williamsburg. The couple farmed for many years. They moved into Williamsburg in August 1967.
Wanda enjoyed gardening and yard work, quilting and sewing.
She especially enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her family and friends.
