Wanda Hawkins-Klotz, 85, of Gibson, died as the result of a brain hemorrhage on Sunday, May 13, 2018, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. A memorial service will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 26, at Gibson Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be

held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Holland-Coble Funeral Home in What Cheer. Burial will be in the St. Paul Cemetery in Watkins. Memorial contributions may be made to Gibson Presbyterian Church or Keokuk County Hospice. Friends may offer condolences to the family at www.hollandcoblefuneralhome.com.

Wanda Lea Hawkins-Klotz was born in Brookfield, Mo., on April 15, 1933, the daughter of Virgil Ray Stanley and Minnie Marie Stuart. She was a graduate of Fort Madison High School and on Feb. 17, 1951, Wanda was united in marriage to Charles L. Hawkins. To this union came three daughters, Joy, Dixie and Shelley. Wanda worked as a housewife, a cashier for Montgomery Ward in Muscatine, a secretary for Vinton community schools, as well as an executive secretary for Stanley Consultants Inc. in Muscatine. She eventually retired in 1990. After the death of her husband Charles in 2000, she remarried Wilbert Klotz on March 22, 2003. Wanda was a member of the Gibson Presbyterian Church, where she served as head trustee and clerk of session. She was also a choir member at First Presbyterian churches in Vinton and Muscatine. Wanda also served the Keokuk County Fair as the superintendent of threads and textiles. She will be remembered as a hardworking, kind-hearted woman, who loved sewing and dancing.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a husband, Charles Hawkins; and her two daughters, Joy Jewel Brown and Dixie Diane Van Zee.

Wanda is survived by her husband, Wilbert Klotz of Gibson; a daughter, Shelley (Paul) Matzen of Round Rock, Texas; a sister, Virginia Baskett of Columbia, Mo.; two sons-in-law, Ted Brown of Davenport and Steve Van Zee of Gibson; and her six grandchildren, Joshua (Kristin) Van Zee of Oskaloosa, Heath (Samantha) Van Zee of Cedar Rapids, Ashley (Michael) Reif of Montezuma, Elizabeth Matzen of Ann Arbor, Mich., Elliot Matzen of Round Rock and Carrie (Eric) Braun of Davenport. Wanda was also blessed with seven great-grandchildren.
