Wanda Ellen Anderson, 90, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, May 18, 2018. Wanda was born to Earl and Hazel (Eppers) Sorenson on March 20, 1928.
Wanda spent her childhood in Windom, Minn., graduating from McKinley High School in Cedar Rapids in 1946. She had been a member of First Baptist Church/Church of the Brethren (The Church on Northland) since 1941 and a member of the Lambda Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Wanda also was a member of Mended Hearts. She enjoyed many hobbies, such as knitting, sewing, quilting, appliqueing, reading and doing crossword puzzles. Wanda was known for her outgoing, joyful personality, her infectious smile and her love of family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her so dearly.
Wanda is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Jerald; children, Lisa (Curt) McGowan of Herndon, Va., and Ron (Terri) Anderson of Cedar Rapids; and grandsons, Graham and Alec McGowan of Herndon, Va.
A visitation was held on Sunday, May 20, 2018, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Services will be on Monday, May 21, 2018, at 11 a.m. at The Church on Northland, 5200 Northland Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids. A luncheon will follow the service at the church. A private family inurnment will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to The Church on Northland.
