Waltz, Rose Evelyn Winekauf

Rose Evelyn Winekauf Waltz, 84, of Tipton, passed away Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 5, at 10:30 a.m. at Fry Funeral Home in Tipton. Visitation will be held for friends and family from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Rose will be buried at Tipton Masonic Cemetery.

Rose was born Oct. 10, 1928, to Floyd and Verna (Winekauf) Wagner. She married Melvin LeRoy Waltz on July 26, 1947. Rose and Melvin farmed in Eastern Iowa in the early years. Rose was dedicated to raising her five children and worked as a bookkeeper for the family welding business.

She enjoyed dancing, fishing and playing cards. Rose was a member of the Women of the Moose.

Rose is survived by her daughter, Rita (Todd) Catlett of Nichols; sons, Gary (Linda) Waltz of Tipton, Merle (Diana) Waltz of Tipton, Randy (Irene) Waltz of Conesville and Rick (Beth) Waltz of Tipton; 17 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin; grandson, Eric Grau; sisters, Loretta Shultz, Mary Wilson, Alberta Winekauf; and brother, Charles “Chuck” Winekauf.
