Walters, Dorothy M.
Dorothy M. Walters, 82, of 2912 Hillmer Drive SW (the home of her daughter), died Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center after an extended illness. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. on Friday at St. Jude Catholic Church. The Rev. Mark Reasoner will officiate. Entombment at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday where there will be a vigil service at 6 p.m.
Survivors include two sons, Donald (Donna) of Cedar Rapids and Dale of Newhall; one daughter, Peggy Pugmire of Cedar Rapids; one brother, Harold Lloyd of Harpers Ferry; and a sister, Mary (Allan) Wolfe of Cedar Rapids. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Brian (Karlene) Walters, Lisa Sherman, and Danny and Dana Walters; three great-grandchildren, Corey and Heather Walters and Mikayla Sherman; five step grandchildren, Chris, Shawn, Jeff, Kim and Amy; and 22 step great- and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Jean Powers; brothers, Cyril and Robert; and a granddaughter, Kimberly Ann Walters.
Dorothy was born on Feb. 7, 1928, in Harpers Ferry, the daughter of John and Stella McNally Lloyd. She married Leon W. Walters on March 12, 1946, in Harpers Ferry. He died in 1993. Dorothy worked a Collins Radio for several years and was a homemaker. She was a faithful member of St. Jude Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casino, gardening, flower arranging and especially the time she spent with her family.
Memorial donations may be given to the American Cancer Society in Dorothy's name.
