Walter (Walt) Hartl, 81, passed away on Jan. 2, 2023, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ann Hartl; sister, Elizabeth Teed; daughter, Lori AbbenGoodwin (George); sons, Robert Hartl (Deb), Michael Hartl (Heather) and Terry Hartl (Leah); and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Iona and Milo; aunt, Helen; brother-in-law, Merle; and daughter-in-law, Robyn.
Walter spent 35 years as a semi driver for Roadway. He enjoyed camping and spending time with his family. Walt and Ann were foster parents to 272 children over 40 years.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Jan. 20, at Cherie’s Dance Studio, 4000 Center Point Rd. NE, Cedar Rapids.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
