Walter Rick Curphy, 75, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park, Kansas surrounded by his family and those he loved.
Rick was born May 28, 1949, in Marshalltown, Iowa, son of Walter Orland and Rhoda A (Patterson) Curphy. He was a carpenter and worked in construction most of this life.
His joy in his life was his work and his family.
Survivors include his beloved partner Sybil O'Brien, his seven children, Joseph (Michelle) Curphy, Gilman, Iowa; Joel Morrison, Brooklyn, New York; Chad (Amy) Curphy, Shawnee, Kansas; Mindy (Patrick Benson) Curphy, Kansas City, Missouri; Kari (Craig) Gosselink, Lynnville, Iowa; Angelia (Jon) Barton, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Colby Tanner, Carrollton, Missouri; a sister, Connie Hoskins, Marshalltown, Iowa; a brother, Randy Curphy, Grinnell, Iowa; 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Ahrens) Curphy, his parents and sister, Pamela (Boyd) Bader.
Celebration of life service was held at 2 pm Saturday, December 21, 2024, at First Assembly of God Church in Carrollton, Missouri. A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 24, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Malcom, Iowa starting at 11 am.
The family suggests contributions to the care of the family.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Bittiker Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri.
