Walter Glen Nesley, 91, of Coggon, died Thursday, March 20, 2014, at the Hiawatha Care Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, March 24, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW, where full military rites will be conducted. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before services Monday at Brosh Chapel.
Glen was born June 23, 1922, in Springville, the son of John and Grace (Horak) Nesley. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1941 until 1968, retiring as a senior master sergeant. He served in World War II and the Korean conflict and was an ex-POW. He married Dorothy Mallicoat on March 21, 1984, at the Troy Mills Christian Church.
Glen is survived by his wife, Dorothy Nesley; two sons, John (Connie) Nesley and Paul (Leslie) Nesley, both of California; stepchildren, June (Joel Sr.) Matson of Plainfield, Ill., and Steve (Lynn) Mallicoat of Solon; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his sister, Patsy (Keith) Payton of Coggon; and his brother, Dean (Marsha) Nesley of Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Norman; his sisters, Mariam and Johan; and his daughter, Jane.
