Walter "Jay" Kaiser, 70, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, March 4, 2017, at Illini Hospital, Silvis, Ill.
Walter was cremated; there will be no services.
He was born in Columbus, Ohio, the son of Walter and Jean Reeb Kaiser. Walter was a staff sargent in the Vietnam War, where he served four years as a combat soldier. He was awarded the Bronze Star of Valor and received a Purple Heart. He was well respected by his fellow veterans. He was a retired truck driver.
Walter loved playing cards with his favorite card-playing buddies. He enjoyed helping veterans and bowling. He had a special young man named Michael, with whom he enjoyed hanging out.
Survivors include his son, Jamie Kaiser of Chicago; and his brothers, Fritz, Ron and Terry Kaiser of Columbus, Ohio, and Gene Allen of Alabama.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Walter "Jay" Kaiser was loved and will be missed by many.
