Walter Jensen passed away on Nov. 1, 2016, in Vancouver, Wash. He was born Jan. 29, 1933, to Walter W. and Inez (Bergerson) Jensen in Huron, S.D.
Survivors include four children, Elizabeth (Vincent) Tomar of Burlington, Ky., Eugene Jensen of Vancouver, Wash., Jennifer (Joe-Al) Chichioco of Ramona, Calif., and William (Amie) Jensen of Oviedo, Fla.; three grandsons, Anthony and Zachary Tomar and Liam Jensen; three sisters, Connie (Leroy) Schultz of Vancouver, Wash., Beverly (Curtis) Kopperud of Green Valley, Ariz., and Judith (Allan) Davis of Tucson, Ariz.; former wife, Gayle (Hansel) Jensen; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; three brothers-in-law, Donald (Beverly) Talbott, Leroy (Connie) Schultz and Alan (Judith) Davis; and wife, Andrea (Brunevold) Jensen.
Walter graduated from Madison High School in 1951, in Madison, Wis. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1957 in the military police at Fort Leavenworth, Kan. Walter was employed as a millwright at Square D Co. in Cedar Rapids for more than 45 years until retirement. He enjoyed gardening, bowling, fishing and gold prospecting, and was very proud of his family.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, Nov. 10, at East Vancouver United Methodist Church, Vancouver, Wash., with a military graveside service at Willamette National Cemetery, Portland, Ore., preceding the service. Memorials may be sent to Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Vancouver, Wash.
