Walter Clarence Huber Jr., 83, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Nov. 18, 2018, in St. Charles, Ill. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church by the Rev. Ivan Nienhaus. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home and on Saturday after 9 a.m. at the church.
Walter is survived by his son, David (Kathleen) Huber, St. Charles, Ill.; his daughter, Victoria (Dr. Chad) Knutsen, Windsor, Colo.; his grandchildren, David Joseph (Stephanie) Huber, Jeanette Helen Huber, Rachel Donna (Keith) Molloy, Bria Lou Knutsen, Tori Kay Knutsen and Mitchell Taylor Knutsen; his great-grandchildren, Jence Kerrington-Kash Huber and Claudia Joy Huber; and his brothers, Eugene (Lorraine) Huber and Gary (Diane) Huber.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna; his sister, Bonita; and parents, Walter and Irene.
Walter was born on April 9, 1935, in Dubuque, son of Walter and Irene McAllister Huber Sr. In 1954, he graduated Aristotelian from Roosevelt High School, Cedar Rapids, and was a member of the Quill & Scroll, the Sigma Sigma Club and the thespians and drama club. Walter attended the University of Iowa. After college, he worked as a draftsman at Universal Engineering, Collins Radio, Rockwell International and P&H Harnischfeger. Walter married Donna Lou Ohrlund on Aug. 9, 1958, at St. Matthew Catholic Church. He was a devout Catholic and was involved in many groups while living in Cedar Rapids.
Walter was a kind and gentle man to all, and loved spending time with his family. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.
