Walsh, Donna J.
Donna J. Walsh, 85, a longtime resident of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, April 4, 2011 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha, after a long illness. Per Donna's request there will be no service. Inurnment in the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel Mausoleum Columbarium. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include two daughters, Catherine (Gary) Metelak of Santa Paula, Calif., and Koren Walsh of the Twin Cities, Minn.; and two sons, Christopher (Debra) and Patrick (Jill), all of Cedar Rapids.
She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Hali, Chad, Kerry, Ben (Abby), Jessica, Becky and Jake; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Donna was born on August 2, 1925, in Chatham, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of Stanley and Hazel Dolsen Ward. She married Jerome R. Walsh on Feb. 7, 1948, in Detroit, Mich. He died in 2004. Donna was a volunteer a Brucemore and was a tour guide at the Amana Colonies for many years. She was one of the founders of the Amana Community Theater and a member of the Amana Artists Guild. Donna enjoyed playing bridge, knitting, painting and especially the time she spent with her many friends and beloved family.
