Wallace, Richard M.
Richard M. Wallace, 88, a resident of Crestview Acres in Marion, died there Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, after a long illness. Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories in Cedar Rapids, where there also will be military rites. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Survivors include four sons, Daniel and David of Cedar Rapids, Steve of Marion and Michael of Lisbon; a daughter, Julie Zimmerman of Chicago; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; a son, Larry; and a brother, Chuck.
Dick was born Nov. 4, 1924, in Des Moines, the son of Charles and Francis Popelka Wallace. He married Maureen M. Wennermark on May 29, 1949, in Cedar Rapids. Maureen died in 2001.
Dick was an art teacher and taught in both Taylor and Lincoln elementary schools for over 22 years. After retirement he did sign painting for several years. He was a member of Grace Bible Fellowship and proudly served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
Dick was a very talented artist who enjoyed pictorial art, traveling and especially the time spent with his beloved family and friends.
Memorial donations may be given to Grace Bible Fellowship or The Salvation Army.
