Wallace, Kent N.
Kent N. Wallace, 76, of Manchester, died Oct. 21, 2011, at Briarwood Healthcare Center in Iowa City following a brief illness. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 24, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Manchester. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, with a rosary service at 3 p.m., at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Manchester and one hour before services Monday at the church. Burial, with military honors: Calvary Cemetery, Ryan.
Kent was born Nov. 2, 1934, in New Hartford, Iowa, the son of Clarence G. and Ruth (Norton) Wallace. Following graduation from Hopkinton High School, he joined the U.S. Navy on March 4, 1954. On July 9, 1960, Kent was united in marriage to Mary C. Wiley at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Manchester.
He was employed as a salesman for G. Hieleman Brewing Co. and Henderson Manufacturing in Manchester. Kent was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Manchester American Legion Post 45 and the Manchester VFW.
Kent is survived by four sons, Mike (Sharon) of Moravia, Mark (Kim) of Grinnell, Kris (Laurie) of Iowa City and Scott (Michelle) of Waverly; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Kent was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, in 2007; his parents, Clarence and Ruth Wallace; and two sisters, Betty Smith and Evelyn Holm.
Memorials may be directed to St. Mary's Catholic Church or Camp Courageous.
