Wallace, Joice
Joice Wallace, 90, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, June 4, 2011, in Des Moines, Iowa. A visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 9, at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at Echo Hill Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. A reception will follow.
Mrs. Wallace was born July 8, 1920, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to James and Joice Lowry. She was married to James Wallace on May 16, 1959, in Cedar Rapids. She was employed in Marshalltown by Iowa Electric Light and Power Company and was transferred to Cedar Rapids, where she worked until 1959. Joice enjoyed writing and over the years had a number of her poems published. She was a member of Central Park Presbyterian Church where she was an active volunteer in Christian Education for many years. Upon her move to Des Moines in 2003, she joined Central Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James in 2001.
She is survived by her two sons and their families, John and Carol Wallace of Katy, Texas, and their daughters Callie, Caryn and Claire, and Jim and Anne Wallace of Urbandale, and their daughters, Lindsay, Laney and Lauren.
