Wallace C. Christopherson, 90, formerly of Jesup, died Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, at ABCM Nursing and Rehabilitation Center – East Campus in Independence. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 3, at
American Lutheran Church, Jesup, with a 2:15 p.m. burial at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery at Locust, rural Decorah. Military rites will be conducted by Pump-Scheer American Legion Post 342 of Jesup. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at White Funeral Home, Jesup, and one hour before services Tuesday at the church.
Memorials will be directed to St. John's Lutheran Cemetery Association at Locust.

Wallace Carsten "Wally" Christopherson was born Nov. 15, 1924, in Winneshiek County, Iowa, the son of William Christopherson and Cora (Gjere) Christopherson. He served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper during World War II. On Sept. 10, 1945, he was united in marriage to Mae Caroline Knoke at St. John's Lutheran Church at Locust. He farmed from 1945 to 1974 and then he and Mae moved to Jesup, where he worked at Christopherson Hydraulic Jack Repair until 1984. He also drove school bus for several years for Jesup Community Schools.
Wally was a member of the American Lutheran Church and Pump-Scheer American Legion Post 342 in Jesup and the Independence Merry Mixers square dance club for many years.
Mr. Christopherson is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mae Christopherson of Independence; one son, Carsten (Barb) Christopherson of Cedar Rapids; three daughters, Barbara (Jon) Wilken of Salem, S.C., Beverly (Merle) Headington of Cedar Rapids and Debra (John) Williams of Winthrop; nine grandchildren; 17 great- grandchildren; 6 sisters, Mary Sanders of Luck, Wis., Crystal Thayer of Sarasota, Fla., Thelma (Charlie) Brown of Sun City, Ariz., Ruth (Jim) Wilson of Cedar Rapids, Grace (Ken) Johnson of Las Vegas, Nev., and Arlene (Ron) Vavroch of Cape Coral, Fla.; one brother, Ivan Christopherson of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Carmen, Jerome, Robert, Raymond and Francis Christopherson; and two sisters, Esther Stevensen and Betty Hansel.
