Wagner, William 'Bill' D.
William “Bill” D. Wagner, 70, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital following a short illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Teahen Funeral Home. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and after 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Bill is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Heidi Wagner of Alaska, Brian Waterbury of Cedar Rapids, Brett Waterbury of Palo, Danielle (Rick) Seger of Marion, John Wagner of Hiawatha, Lindsey Wagner of Marion and Josh Wagner of Cedar Rapids; 10 grandchildren six great-grandchildren; sister, Kathy (Randy) Baker of LeGrand; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Christi Wagner; and grandson, Brett Waterbury.
William Duane was born Oct. 9, 1942, in Cedar Rapids, the son of John and Louise (Shaffer) Wagner. He married Mary Louise Novotny on Oct. 22, 1973, in Cedar Rapids. Bill worked as a material analyst at Rockwell Collins for 35 years, retiring in 2002.
Bill was an avid deer, pheasant, and mushroom hunter. He was fond of the outdoors and especially liked boating, ice skating, and golfing. Bill liked to build things, play a good tune on the piano, and sing karaoke. Above all, Bill enjoyed spending quality time with his friends and children.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
