Wagner, Jeanne Victoria
Jeanne Victoria Wagner, 89, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, June 28, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Monday, July 2, at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. David Beckman Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Arrangements are by Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Judith Wilcox of Ellsworth, Neb., Michael Wagner of Cedar Rapids and Barbara Wagner of Iowa City; and a grandson, Travis Jackson of Jacksonville, N.C.
Jeanne was born March 15, 1923, in Eddyville, Iowa, the daughter of Ellis and Minerva (Bassett) Pyatt. She lived in Iowa and southern Minnesota and attended one year of college in Colorado. Jeanne came to Cedar Rapids to work during World War II. On Jan. 8, 1949, she married Edward Wagner. A homemaker and mother, she also helped Edward run Hawkeye Sales Co., a longtime contractor's supply store in Cedar Rapids.
She enjoyed being with her family and friends, traveling, and sports, and was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; stepfather, Farrell Cline; aunt, Mina Wagner; sister, Nellie French; brother, James Pyatt; stepsister, Dorothy Bednasek; and son-in-law, James Wilcox.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Hospice of Mercy or the Trappist Casket Children's Fund.
