W. Jack Peterson, 88, of Springville, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion and one hour before the service Friday at the church. Funeral services: 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19, at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Springville.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Dorothy; five children, David (Paula) Peterson of Warrenville, Ill., Jeffrey (Annette) Peterson of Marion, Lori Lynn (Michael) Buren of Linden, Wash., Kevin (Candi) Peterson of Carlisle and Alycia (Sandy Roozeboom) Peterson of Runnels; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Eleanor (James) McCoy of Des Moines and Rachel McMurray of Canton, S.D.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jerry and Loren "Pete" Peterson; a sister, Mary Enockson; and a grandson, Nicholas A. Peterson.
Jack was born March 4, 1929, the son of Arthur and Grada (Roetman) Peterson, in rural Wright County, Iowa. He graduated from UNI with a bachelor of science degree. On June 12, 1954, he married Dorothy M. Underberg in Eagle Grove, Iowa. Jack was a self-employed home builder and contractor.
He was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church in Springville. He was a lifetime Mason, a Boy Scout troop leader of Springville Troop No. 57, FFA and 4-H.
Jack was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed all of the time spent with them.
