W. ALLEN BOND
Marion
W. Allen Bond passed away with family by his side on Oct. 18, 2014, at Willow Gardens Care Center in Marion, when his tired heart could beat no longer.
Allen was born March 19, 1920. He was married to Kathryn "Katy" Kinder on June 10, 1945. He was ordained a Seventh Day Baptist minister in 1949.
In addition to pastoring and being involved in several church organizations and missions, he had a drywall business and print shop.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, a sister, and his wife.
He is survived by four children, Richard (Lisa), Karen (Roger), David and Gary (Cynthia); three grandchildren, Joshua, Christina and Adam; and three great-grandchildren, Connor, Elyssa and Braydon.
In Allen's words: "The mortal life of Allen Bond began on March 19, 1920, in Nortonville, Kan., and ended after 94 years on Oct. 18, 2014. His spiritual life began on Dec. 10, 1936, when by the grace and mercy of God, he finally surrendered at the feet of Jesus. Since that new life is eternal life, no ending date for it can be given. Consider him more alive now than ever before!"
Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, with visitation from 4 to 6 p.m., at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories in Cedar Rapids. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, Allen's charity preference is Christian Aid, P.O. Box 9037, Charlottesville, VA 22906.
