Votroubek, Wilma G.
Wilma G. Votroubek, 88, of Rock Island, Ill., died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010, at Amber Ridge Assisted Living, Moline, Ill. Memorial services for Mrs. Votroubek will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 Seventh Ave., Rock Island. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Per Wilma's wish, her body has been donated to Northern Illinois University for anatomical study.
Wilma was born April 23, 1922, near Shueyville, Iowa, the daughter of Frank Holub and Josie (Chalupnik) Holub. She married Milton Votroubek on Aug. 23, 1941, in Kahoka, Mo. He preceded his wife in death on Aug. 5, 2000. Wilma spent many years volunteering with the PTA, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and other non-profit organizations. She had worked for John Deere & Co. and also for the Rock Island School Lunch Program. Her memberships include the Family Campers on Wheels and Friends of the Rock Island Library. She enjoyed camping and various crafts. Wilma especially loved her family and friends.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Bob and Pam Votroubek of Moline and Vicky and Mike Bealer of Coal Valley, Ill.; grandchildren, Scott Votroubek of Rock Island, Sara Husser and husband Brent of Bettendorf, Kelly Bealer of Coal Valley and Kristen Lagerstam and husband Bryan of Omaha, Neb.; and great-granddaughter, Kaylie Husser.
Mrs. Votroubek was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Milton; and sisters, Blanche Bauman and Mary Simon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Jude Childrens Hospital or to a favorite charity.
