Vorwald, Irene J.
Irene J. Vorwald, 90, of Dyersville, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011, at Oak Crest Manor, Dyersville. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville, where an Altar & Rosary Society rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. and a parish Scripture service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 21, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, New Vienna, with burial in the church cemetery.
Survivors include her children, Fred (Carol) and Carl (Debbie) Vorwald, both of New Vienna, Jan Lex and Arlene Vorwald, both of Dubuque, Jean Driscoll of Mechanicsville, Donna (Jeff) Jacque of Dyersville, and Marian (John) Schmidt of Holy Cross; a daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Vorwald of Dyersville; 25 grandchildren; 39 (soon to be 41) great-grandchildren; her twin sister, Armella Schroeder; and a sister-in-law, Lois Fangmann of Manchester.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, “Ted” in 1991; one son, Jim in 1978; two sons-in-law, George Driscoll and Jim Lex; a grandson, Jeff Vorwald; and siblings, Regina Gaul, Clara Ruden, Marie Schneider, Julia Schlichte, Leander, Edwin, Elmer, Leonard and Lawrence Fangmann.
A memorial fund has been established for the benefit of Oak Crest Manor toward the purchase of a lift in Irene's name.
