VonnieRae Ann Werden, 74, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2014, in Rockridge Care Center, Shellsburg. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel, where a visitation will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial: Dunkard Cemetery, Midway. Cedar Memorial Certified Celebrant Paula Meyer will officiate.
Survivors include her mother, LaVon Benischek of Wheatland; her friend and life partner, Larry Oellrich of Cedar Rapids; her children, Diane (Rob) Sharp of Cape Coral, Fla., Cindy (Barry) Vanorsdale of Cedar Rapids, Angela (Randy) Phillips of San Diego, Calif., and Bill Werden of Cedar Rapids; her siblings, Joan (Steve) Barth of Melbourne, Fla., and Patricia (Chris) Dona of Dewitt; her sister-in-law, Marlene Werden of Winona, Minn.; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Benischek; and Bill Werden.
VonnieRae was born Aug. 18, 1940, in Anamosa, Iowa, the daughter of Raymond and LaVon (Shoaff) Benischek. She was married to Bill Werden. They later divorced and remained friends. She then met her friend and life partner, Larry Oellrich. VonnieRae was employed at Armstrong's Department Store and later at Target.
She loved gardening, dancing and was an excellent cook. She always had a clean spotless home. She also loved spending time with her family and time spent with her grandchildren was priceless.
