Von Der Werth, Rose Tracy
Rose Tracy Von Der Werth, 95, of Toledo, formerly of Tama, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2013, at Carrington Place in Toledo under the care of Iowa River Hospice. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 16, at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama. Private Interment will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo.
Rose was born Sept. 1, 1917, in Elberon, Iowa, the daughter of John and Theresa (Macha) Braye. In 1949, she was united in marriage to Gordon Von Der Werth in Mill Valley, Calif. She had previously operated a nursery in California. Rose enjoyed canning, gardening and antiques. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Gordon; and siblings, John Braye Jr., Edward Braye, Agnes Rutledge, Emil Braye, Stanley Braye, Anna Bliss, Milvoy Braye, Mabel Van De Woestyne and Freddie Braye.
Survivors include a sister, Minnie Patrick of Lincoln; a brother, Leonard Braye of Hemet, Calif.; several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; great-great nieces and nephews; and great-great-great nieces and nephews.
Memorials are appreciated to Iowa River Hospice.
