Vogt, Lee 'Short'
Lee “Short” Vogt, 80, died Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at Manor Care Health Services in Cedar Rapids, following an extended illness. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 28, at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. Sixth St., Vinton. Private family services and committal will be held. A memorial fund has been established.
Lee was born April 30, 1930, to Harry J. and Myrtle (Rehder) Vogt at Palo. He served on the Shellsburg Volunteer Fire Department for many years, was a former City Council member and a member of the Shellsburg Lions Club. Lee owned a trucking business, before his retirement.
He is survived by his sons, Kent (Jane) Vogt of Fulton, Ill., Mike Vogt of Shellsburg, Tim Vogt of Lillian, Texas, and Brian Vogt of Cedar Rapids; his daughter, Janice Boudoney of Walford; two granddaughters; eight grandsons; seven great-grandchildren; his sisters, Maxine Esposito of Elk Grove, Calif., and Lois Sweeting of Center Point; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Bernard and Dale Vogt; and his sisters, Dorothy Babcock, Bernita Vogt, Norine Macomber and Geraldine Miller.
