Vogt, Christopher Allyn
Christopher Allyn Vogt, 42, went to be with his maker on Friday, Jan. 22, 2010. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. Private family services and burial will be held later.
A memorial fund has been established for Chris's children's' educational needs.
Chris is survived by his son, Cody; his daughter, Kayla; his parents, John and Carol Ann Vogt, Marengo; two sisters, Kathy Brecht of Marengo and Connie Gougler (Matt) of Portland, Ore.; a brother, Kevin Vogt (Marna) of Ladora; and his grandmother, Dorothy Zuber of Amana. Also surviving are several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, William H. Zuber and Melvin and Ada Jane Vogt.
Christopher Allyn Vogt was born Nov. 9, 1967, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of John and Carol Ann Zuber Vogt. He was raised on the family farm and quickly learned the mechanics of farming. He graduated from Iowa Valley High School with the class of 1986. He was employed by Goodyear, Kinze Manufacturing, and presently had been a mechanic with the Amana Farms. He was skilled in many avenues of repair. He specialized in welding, sandblasting and painting. His welding business had been growing rapidly as was the sandblasting business.
He enjoyed spending his evenings and weekends working on machinery for neighbors and friends, but Chris's greatest joys were attending farm auctions and working on old trucks and cars with his son Cody. Chris was known for his great wit and his loyalty to his friends and family. He was a hard worker but always had time to sit and visit with his friends.
He will be greatly missed by his family as well as his many friends. May he finally have the peace he so longed for. He was truly loved.
