Vivian Shipton Trickey, 90, passed away Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, after a short illness, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Jan. 15, 1924, in Green Mountain, Iowa, and graduated from Marshalltown High School and Stephens College.
Married to Ben Trickey for 32 years, she moved to
Cedar Rapids, Iowa, raised four boys and was co-owner of May City Bowling Center.
She was an avid sports fan and Iowa Hawkeye
contributor.
She retired to Rancho Bernardo, Calif., where she lived for 24 years. She was a member and past president of PEO, a member of Rancho Bernardo Community Presbyterian Church and numerous charitable organizations in the San Diego area.
She had an indomitable spirit, was staunchly independent, and had an unconditional love that held her family together.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was predeceased by her husband, Ben; and sons, Brad and
Tim.
She is survived by her son, Tob, his wife, Penny, and their children, Alia, Barret and Bronwyn; daughter-in-law, Terry Trickey, and her children, Kelly, Erin and Ben; daughter-in-law, Kathy Trickey, and her children, Beau and Blair; and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. May 3 at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Ben Trickey Scholarship Fund, University of Iowa Athletic Department.
