VirJean Peffer, 93, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully on Monday, Feb. 13, 2017.
VirJean was born Aug. 30, 1923, in Alta, Iowa, the daughter of William and Buena Peterson. She graduated from the University of Iowa with a B.S. in commerce and worked for the university for 26 years until her retirement in 1985. She was married to William "Bill" Peffer on Nov. 25, 1946, in Iowa City. VirJean and Bill were inseparable and recently celebrated 70 years of marriage. Over the years, they had resided in North Liberty, Iowa City, McAllen, Texas, and more recently in Cedar Rapids.
In addition to her husband, VirJean is survived by three children, Barbara Moeller (Del) of West Point, Katherine Schimelpfening (Bobby) of Goodyear, Ariz., and Thomas Peffer (Carroll) of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will take place in the future.
