Virginia Kline (Snyder) Bull, 97, passed away on Friday, Sept. 30, 2022, at her home in Shellsburg.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7, at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton.
Virginia was born on Jan. 10, 1925, in Vinton, the daughter of Ansel and Beulah (Kline) Snyder. She grew up in Vinton and graduated from Lincoln High School, with the class of 1942, where she was a member of the National Honor Society. Virginia held several jobs during the war including working at the rationing office, the theater and the Benton County Treasurers office. On July 15, 1944, she was united in marriage to Robert C. Bull in Salina, Kan., where Bob was stateside. Following Bob’s discharge in 1946, the couple made their home in Shellsburg. Their daughter Robyn was born on Nov. 7, 1947. Virginia was a member of the Shellsburg Presbyterian Church, the Women’s Federate Club, where she was a past president, and the Shellsburg American Legion Auxiliary where she had served as president and secretary.
Virginia enjoyed gardening, especially flowers, sewing, quilting and all kinds of hand crafts. She made a number of quilts and also made all the curtains in her home. She enjoyed all sports, especially Hawkeyes basketball and football as well as some NBA and NFL teams. Virginia loved dogs and had several throughout her life.
She is survived by her granddaughters, Gina (Bob) Wells of Center Point and Jennifer (Andy) Vislisel of Vinton; son-in-law, Bill Benson of Mission, Texas; great-grandchildren, Taylor Vislisel, Caleb Franzenburg, Trevor Franzenburg and Leah Vislisel; and her great-great-granddaughter, Emmie Gene Franzenburg.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert, in 2000; and her beloved daughter, Robyn Benson, in 2016.
