She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert E. Giblin, on March 26, 2006; brother, Edward O'Brien; and her parents.
Virginia was born on Dec. 18, 1927, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Frederick Paul and Anna Mae O'Brien. She graduated from Franklin High School in January 1946. She married Robert E. Giblin on May 22, 1948, at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids.
Virginia had many great friends throughout the years. She loved to spend her winters in Arizona and summers in Minnesota with her longtime friend Jack Eggleston, who also graduated from Franklin High School. Virginia also attended many picnics and lunches with another classmate, Fonda Kauffman, over the last 76 years. She had a very long friendship with June Meed through Wapsi golfing, card playing and cookouts.
Virginia was involved in many committees throughout the years, including organizing her class reunions that were held every five years. She also bowled in the Daytime Dolls Bowling League at CR Bowl and participated in the Twin Pines Women's Golf Ladies Day and the Wapsi Couples Golf League in Anamosa. She was also a past president of the Cedar Rapids Home Builder's Women's Auxiliary and was a Cub Scout den mother at Arthur School. Her family was always amazed at how she was able to be involved with so much, but she always did it.
She loved flowers and gardening and was very fond of her poodles, Jacque and Coca.
