VIRGINIA LOUISE CALVERT

Virginia Louise "Nana" Calvert passed away April 1, 2016, at Northbrook Manor Care Center surrounded by her family. She was 94 years old.
Virginia was born in Osawatomie, Kan., to Fred and
Lottie (Powell) Mann. One of seven children, she grew up in Osawatomie. She graduated from Osawatomie High School. Virginia received her nursing diploma from Osawatomie State Hospital School of Nursing in 1942. She went on to work for the state hospital. After that she went on to work for a private practice in her hometown. During that time she met and married Evan Calvert on Feb. 15, 1946, and they had two children together. After her marriage, she devoted her life to her husband and caring for her family.
She enjoyed the beauty of all that nature offered, including gardening, mushrooming and fishing, always with family by her side.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, her husband, and her granddaughter, Angela Miller.
She is survived by her son, Steven (Julie) Calvert; her daughter, Coleen (Jeff) Scheel; her grandchildren, Aaron (Sheryl) Calvert, Amy Calvert (John Boone), Jason (Sarah) Miller, Amanda (Jeremy) Gates, Cole Calvert and Cassie Calvert; and 11 great-grandchildren.
The family will be having a private graveside service on Tuesday at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
