VIRGINIA C. "GINNY" WENTZEL
Cedar Rapids
Virginia C. "Ginny" Wentzel, 87, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Friday, Feb. 12, 2021, at her home. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, is assisting
the family.
Ginny was born in
Holmen, Wis., the daughter and oldest of 10 children to Benjamin and Marian (Hunter) Medema. She graduated from high School in Holmen. Virginia and Art were married in Pipestone, Minn., on March 5, 1955. She worked at Hy-Vee and Salvation Army. Ginny was an excellent cook and known for her casseroles and bread pudding. She always thought of her children first.
Survivors include her children, Dawn (Joseph) Zamastil of Cedar Rapids, Kim Barger of Cedar Rapids, Lorrie (Keith) Myers of Terre Haute, Ind., and Allen (Lillian) Wentzel of Galesville, Wis.; grandchildren, Kristina, Troy, Mike, Chris, Eric, Bric, Cody, Doug and Whitney; great-grandchildren, Logan, Hannah and Gracie; and her beloved cat, Hazel.
Ginny was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Wentzel; parents, Benjamin and Marian; son, Wayne Wentzel; son-in-law, Mark Barger; and siblings, Susie, Earl and Paul.
Ginny's family would like to extend a very special thank-you to the staff at Care Initiative Hospice for their compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the family for a memorial fund to be established.
